PINOT NOIR

Overview:
This hand crafted Pinot Noir was grown on our estate-owned Cowslip Valley vineyard in the Waihopai Valley of Marlborough. Traditional winemaking techniques including fermentation in open vats with hand plunging, results in a smooth, full-flavoured wine.

Region:
Marlborough

Recommended Food:
The soft and smooth nature of this wine means it is a very versatile food wine that will complement most meals - great with roast beef.

Recommended Cellaring:
2-4 years

Production Notes:
The various parcels of fruit were harvested at optimum ripeness and fermented in open vats. After an extended period of maceration the various batches were drained off skins and put into new and old French oak barriques. After 11 months the wines were assessed and blended.

Technical Notes:
Alcohol: 12.5%
TA: 5.6g/l
pH: 3.65
Residual Sugar: 0g/l

Tasting Notes:
A brooding nose packed with dark cherry, earth and spice. The palate is full and very evenly layered with dark fruits, spice and leather, finishing with fine tannins and a hint of cedar. A very drinkable wine upon release that should age gracefully.
