MERLOT
Overview:
This stylish Merlot is produced from premium grapes grown in the stony soils of our Irongate vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels region of Hawke’s Bay. These special deep gravel soils typically produce full coloured wines with rich fruit flavours supported by fine tannins.
Region:
Hawke's Bay
Recommended Food:
An ideal partner for an antipasto platter featuring a range of salamis and smoked meats, or any meaty casserole. Great with lamb shanks on the bbq!
Recommended Cellaring:
2-4 years
Production Notes:
The grapes are harvested in April and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The blend is assembled early in the new year after some time in oak barrels.
Technical Notes:
Alcohol: 13.0%
TA: 5.4g/l
pH: 3.64
Residual Sugar: 0g/l
Tasting Notes:
Blackberry notes from the Cabernet mingle on the nose with the softer plum and boysenberry aromas of Merlot. The palate is of medium weight and round with upfront sweet fruit. The fruit lingers on the finish over a savory background with light cedar oak notes.
